Sitting in the last days of classes at CEA, writing my final papers and studying for final exams has let it finally sink in that this is all the beginning to the end, as much as I don’t want to believe it. The experience and time I have had here abroad in Barcelona will be unforgettable. The new friends I have made I will hopefully keep in touch with forever. And I am so thankful to have been given this opportunity by my parents to travel Europe and see a whole new part of the world.

From London, Rome, Florence, Paris to Amsterdam, there was so much I got to see and enjoy in just the first two months abroad. I then was able to visit the cities Madrid, Dublin, San Sebastian, Lagos and ended my spring break in the Amalfi Coast seeing Sorrento, Capri, Positano, Pompeii and Naples. In between all of this I spent endless and memorable times in the best city of them all…Barcelona. After traveling around Europe I still would rave to anyone about this city and if I could give one piece of advice to anyone thinking of going abroad, it would be to study here.

As it is now the final countdown and tomorrow ending my junior year, it is almost summertime and I will be heading home a week from now. There are still places in Barcelona I need to see and nights to look forward too this week before I really soak up the end. To finish off the best semester of my lifetime in fashion, I will spend my last weekend in Ibiza!

I really couldn’t have asked for anything more or better people to spend my semester abroad. Spring 2011…BARCELONA ONE LOVE ❤

Whether it be clubbing at Otto Zutz for Loco Lunes on a Monday night or Broadbar on Wednesday, the nightlife in Barcelona is going off every single night of the week running into the weekends. I have never seen anything like it before in my life and it never seems to get old. Each club has a different feel and vibe, but a good time sums up them all!

Port Olympico is an area along the beach, including a strip of clubs beachside as well as other bars, restaurants and shops. Some of the most popular clubs in Barcelona are to be found along the beach. Shoko, Opium Mar and CDLC are some of my favorites all lined up next to one another, which makes it easy to hop from one to the next.

Sutton is another one of my favorites and has a much more European feel to it. If you are looking to do something different than all of the rest of the American abroad students, I suggest trying Sutton out on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night.

The networking and promoting for abroad students in Barcelona is by far the best out there. There is a never a night that you do not know what is going on and they are always going out of their way for us to be having the time of our life. It will be hard to adapt back to the nightlife back in America after living in Barcelona for months and dancing to the great music all night long until the sun comes up.

I was walking down las ramblas and stumbled into La Boqueria, the open air market. I was immediately taken back by all of the vibrant colors of the fruit, vegetables, candy and the amazing aroma. I had no idea there were so many different types of fruit from all over the world including the rambutans from Thailand and other parts of Asia. All of the fruit looked fresh and mouth watering. Upon talking to one of the vendors, I learned that all of the food is brought in fresh each morning. No wonder this place was jam packed. The tourists all had their cameras out, while the locals strolled the aisles for what to cook for dinner.

As I continued deeper into the market, I was shocked as I was hit by the strong smell of seafood. That is about as fresh as it gets, straight out of the Mediterranean Sea. The appetite I had passing by all the candy, was immediately gone by the time I saw the entire heads of sea snakes and other large fish. I gained a lot of respect for the chefs that stand behind the counter all day cutting the meat for customers. This is one of Barcelona’s biggest tourist attractions and I left La Boqueria wanting to do all my grocery shopping there while abroad. If not, I highly recommend it if you are in the city because it is a great spot to stop on a sunny afternoon and gawk at all the food.
